Paris Nice Stage 4: Chasing Points

Philippe Gilbert (BMC) courtesy of his efforts in the break in Stage 3, started the day in the Polka Dots of the King of the Mountain.  With Thomas De Gendt (Lotto Soudal) up the road mopping up maximum points on every climb, Gilbert kept popping out of the peloton to get whatever points remained available.  While is efforts were not enough to keep from surrendering the Jersey over to De Gendt he did hope to stay in contention for the overall title.

At the summits of the major climbs the team soigneurs will stand along the side of the road to pass bottles, with attached energy gels, to their teams in hopes of replenishing some of the calories burned on the way up the Col.
